Emergency Response for a Mining Conveyor Drive in Russia
Our DC motor team recently faced a critical request from a copper mining operation in Russia. A massive conveyor belt system, vital for transporting raw ore to processing units, experienced a catastrophic failure of its 200 kW DC drive motor. With production halted and losses mounting by the hour, the mine urgently needed a replacement motor that matched the original specifications: 440 V, 1,500 rpm, and a custom shaft design compatible with their existing gearbox.
Challenges
The solution came from Jiangsu Dongyuan’s factory. Within 24 hours of the inquiry, our engineers in Shanghai identified a compatible DC motor in stock. Despite the motor’s original design for a steel mill application, our team swiftly modified the shaft and mounting brackets to meet the mine’s requirements. The motor was dispatched via express air freight, arriving in Russia within Four days. Installation support was provided remotely, and the conveyor system resumed operation just 72 hours after delivery—minimizing downtime for the mining giant.
